Employers why should you ask your student workers to join a Work Experience Education Program?

Work Experience Education (WEE) students…

✔ Have more flexible hours. They can work up to six (6) hours per day Monday-Thursday when school is in session and eight (8) hours on any non-school day or on any day preceding a non-school day for a total of 30 hours per week (PUHSD district policy). Also, they can work until 12:30 a.m. on any day with approval. Whereas Students not enrolled in WEE can work four (4) hours per day Monday-Thursday when school is in session and (8) hours on any non-school day or any day preceding a non-school day for a total of 16 hours per week (PUHSD district policy).

✔ Are working for a grade in addition to their pay. They attend a one-hour related class instruction each week in which they turn in homework assignments, weekly time sheets and submit paycheck stubs twice per month. They also do career research and have an opportunity to hear presenters from various career fields as well as complete a portfolio by the end of the semester. The WEE coordinator is available to you if there is a problem with the students work habits, keeping more of your time free from disciplinary problems.

✔ Are higher calibers of students. They must maintain a 2.0 (GPA) to stay in the WEE program. This makes it less likely that their work permit will be revoked or their parents will unexpectedly pull them off the job due to poor grades.

Students need to see Ms. Rosenstein on campus to join WEE.

Save yourself a headache…hire a Work Experience student.
